Five Fish With Amazing Mouths

The waterways of the world are filled with fascinating, frightening, and anomalous creatures. These five have amazing mouths.

The Alligator Gar is a fresh water fish that is native to North American. It is the largest of the gar species. Unlike other gar relatives, it has two rows of large teeth in the upper jaw. The alligator-like teeth and long snout easily explain the name. Amazingly, it can live for around two hours out of water. It is not odd for this fish to weight 200-300 pounds and grow to 8-10 ft in length. The Alligator Gar relies on ambush to kill prey. However, despite rumors of being a man killer, it is not an aggressive species by nature and prefers solitude. My husband caught a five ft Alligator Gar in Mississippi, and I can attest that the teeth and size make this one intimidating fish.
